Dr. Vassilios Peristeras has a PhD on Electronic Government from the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece.

He currently works for the European Commission, Directorate General Informatics, Interoperability Solutions for European Public Administration Unit in Brussels. During the past 15 years, he has worked as researcher and consultant in various posts including the United Nations, the Greek National Centre for Public Administration, the National University of Ireland Galway, the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas. He has extended teaching experience both in professional training and in pre- and post-graduate courses in universities in Greece, Cyprus and Ireland.

His research interests include business information systems, eGovernment, the semantic web, social software, Collaborative Work Environments and interoperability. He has been involved in, initiated and led several R&D EU-funded projects in these topics.

He has published more than 100 papers in journals, conferences, and books and has served as Program Committee member, reviewer, guest editor, etc in more than 60 conferences and journals.
