Dr. Georgios Christonakis
Programme: MSc in Energy systems Giorgos Christonakis studied Law at the University of Athens, at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau engaged in Public Law (Master's and Doctoral studies near Professor Thomas Würtenberger) and in Assyriology (near Professor Horst Steible). He worked as a Lawyer at the Legal Service of the ATHENS 2004 Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games, on its public procurement procedures. Subsequently, he was Legal Advisor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he is still serving as an Expert-Counsellor in Administrative Law. He was a member of several legislative committees involved in drafting the recent laws regarding the acceleration and modernization of the Greek administrative proceedings legislation. He taught as visiting Lecturer at the Greek National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government, at the Diplomatic Academy in Athens and recently at the Law Faculty of the University of Heidelberg. He was also a fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg working on his project on public interest litigation for ecological damage.
