Dr. Dimitris Nathanael

Dimitris Nathanael is a lecturer at the School of Mechanical Engineering (NTUA) where he teaches ergonomics and occupational safety management. Between 2004 and 2009 he was visiting lecturer at the University of the Aegean teaching ergonomics and applied cognitive science at the Department of Product and Systems Design. He holds an Engineering diploma in Production Engineering & Management science, Technical University of Crete, a Graduate degree D.E.A. in Ergonomics, from the Conservatoire Nationale des Arts et Métiers (C.N.A.M.) in France, and a PhD in the field of Cognitive Ergonomics, from the National Technical University of Athens. He the national representative of Greece in the International Association of Ergonomics and the President of the Hellenic Ergonomics Society. Before joining the academia, Dimitri’s scientific work focuses on phenomenological and dialectical approaches in cognition as applied in the analysis of human activity systems and on the methodology of design interventions in the above. At the applied level he is actively interested in artifact design from a human factors perspective as well as with the management of safety at work. He is a registered European Ergonomist and has extensive professional experience in Ergonomics and Safety interventions both in industry and in the services sector.
