Assist. Prof. Kostas Selviaridis

Kostas Selviaridis is an Assistant Professor of Operations Management at the Department of Management Science, Lancaster University Management School (LUMS). Prior to re-joining Lancaster, he lived in Sweden where he worked as an Assistant Professor of Purchasing and Logistics at Lund University, and as a visiting research fellow at Stockholm School of Economics. Kostas holds a Ph.D. in Management Science from LUMS, with his work being co-awarded the 2008 Kingsman Prize for the best doctoral dissertation in the department.

Selviaridis’ research concerns the governance of inter-organisational relationships in supply chains, with particular focus on contracting and its interplay with relational mechanisms. His current work concentrates on the following areas: (a) contracting for innovation, specifically in the context of the UK innovation-oriented public procurement policy, and (b) the design and management of performance-based contracts for effective service delivery. His research has attracted funding from various sources including the British Academy for Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Swedish Defence Research Agency. Kostas' work has been published in international journals including the Industrial Marketing Management, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management, International Journal of Production Research, Production Planning and Control, and International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management. Selviaridis recently guest-edited an Industrial Marketing Management special issue on performance contracting.

Kostas is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK, and holds a PG Certificate in Academic Practice. He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the UK and Sweden in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Supply, and Freight Transport and Logistics. He sits on the Editorial Advisory Board of the International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management and serves at the review boards of the Industrial Marketing Management and the Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management. He is a regular speaker at international conferences and an active member of the European Operations Management Association (EurOMA) and the International Purchasing and Supply Education and Research Association (IPSERA).
