"codebender & Arduino: hacking the real world"

Tuesday, 19th March 2013, at IHU's Computer Labs from 14.00-18.00

IHU This workshop will examine Arduino. We will talk about its capabilities, how it can be used as a microcontroller to affect and control the surrounding environment and build low-cost devices equipped with sensors and controllers with great ease. To do that, the workshop will make use of codebender: an online, easy to use, advanced IDE for Arduino, which allows the user to code fast and easily, as well as collaborate with others and share code and ideas. IHU student Konstantinos Papadopoulos’ team wins first place in ennovation 2012 student digital entrepreneurship competition! Their project, SocialGreen, is a social aware recycling system which combines the strength of social networks, gamification and high smartphone utilization. Konstantinos is a graduate of the MSc in ICT Systems programme 2011-2012.

"ennovation" is a digital entrepreneurship competition for students, founded by the ELTRUN lab at the Athens University of Economics and Business. The competition encourages students towards innovation and entrepreneurship in the domain of digital technologies (internet, mobile, telecommunications etc.) and promotes new business ideas for e-businesses and digital products.

The academic year 2011-2012 was the 5th year the competition ran and was for the first time jointly organized together with ELTRUN, by the International Hellenic University and the University of Nicosia. The International Hellenic University undertook the role of the organizing node for the northern Greece region.

The plan for the next academic year is to broaden the array of the participating institutes, focusing on the region of SE Europe.
