MSc in ICT Systems student receives award in the e-nnovation 2015 digital entrepreneurship competition

In this year’s e-nnovation digital entrepreneurship competition, George Kakamoukas (photos), student at the MSc in ICT Systems, received the “Best Product Prototype” award. He developed a smart, low-cost cardiograph (eCareWalk), which monitors the patient’s heart rate. Patients can see visualisations of their heart rate and send the data to their physician through an easy-to-use mobile app that wirelessly connects to the device. With the booming of the mobile technology and the Internet of Things, personalised tele-medicine products and services are globally considered an emerging field with great prospects and opportunities.

In this year’s e-nnovation competition 123 teams (of 322 total students) competed for the 7 prizes, offered by esteemed enterprises and institutions (Hyundai HellasEurobankSEN/JA GreeceSEPE,Athens University of Economics and Business and International Hellenic University). The competition was supported by KEMELHAMAC  and Microsoft. The International Hellenic University is a co-organiser of the-nnovation competition since 2011, offering to the participating teams consultation and mentoring services, workshops, events etc.
